«SWL-160-R» award was established by the Russian International Club of Radio Listener (RSWLC) on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the birth of the Russian scientist A.S.Popov.

Alexander Stepanovich Popov was born on March 16, 1859 in the village of Turyinsky mines (now Krasnoturinsk, a city of regional subordination in the Sverdlovsk region of Russia), a physicist and electrical engineer, professor. One of the inventors of radio.

It is necessary to score 160 points for receiving various amateur radio stations in Russia, conducted from January 1, 2019. 5 points are awarded for receiving the work of amateur radio stations in the Sverdlovsk region (8C, 8D, 9C, 9D). Repeated SWLs are not counted.

The award is issued to short wave listeners and operators of amateur radio stations in electronic form via hamclub.ru
