«SWL-165-AP» award was established by the Russian International Club of Radio Listener (RSWLC) on the occasion of the 165th anniversary of the birth of Russian scientist A.S.Popov.

Alexander Stepanovich Popov was born on March 16, 1859 in the village of Turyinsky mines (now Krasnoturinsk, a city of regional subordination in the Sverdlovsk region of Russia). Physicist and electrical engineer, professor. One of the inventors of radio.

It is necessary to score 165 points for receiving (SWL)/radio communications (QSO) with various amateur radio stations in Russia, from at least 20 regions of Russia, conducted from March 16, 2024 to March 16, 2025.

2 points are awarded for each SWL/QSO. SWL/QSO with amateur radio stations of the Sverdlovsk region (8C, 8D, 9C, 9D) are a prerequisite and give 3 points. Points are doubled for SWL/QSO with radio stations RK1A (Central Museum of Communications, St.Petersburg), RK1B (A.S.Popov Apartment Museum, St.Petersburg), R9DMP (A.S.Popov House Museum, Krasnoturinsk) and memorial station R1ASP (Kronstadt). Repeated SWLs/QSOs are allowed on a different band.
